Lesson times 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM (and 2:00PM...maybe) Saturday and Sunday ARRIVE 1/2 HOUR EARLY IF YOU NEED TO RENT SKIS
Rentals can only be guaranteed for the first lesson of the day but so far so good on the 12:00PM Lesson
Experienced skiers may want to try a Guided Backcountry Tour. Easier trails to explore or expert terrain backcountry telemarking tours (climbing skins may be required) Call for Information.
All Levels Beginner to Advanced
90 minute intensive ski lesson where you learn the basics of
cross-country (nordic) skiing. Learn about equipment,
how to get up from a fall, uphill techniques, including
the herringbone and sidestep, the diagonal
stride, double poling and how to maximize the skis glide
potential. Trail techniques and safety considerations. You will be introduced to downhill techniques
including the snowplow and 'third ski' techniques.. You will also
learn a little about winter travel including hypothermia
awareness and how to keep warm, the park trail system and trail recomendations.
After
lesson you are then free to explore the trails of the
Herrington Manor State Park. Please note that trails are on rolling terrain. Most folk like an early lesson to take full advantage of the days skiing, and rental equipment can only be guaranteed for the morning session, however rentals should be available at 12:00PM noon too. If you want to reserve gear and make sure you have equipment (and bring it with you) you can call Deep Creek Outfitters in McHenry (301) 387-2200
Price: $35.00 per person includes all day rental, and
lesson ($15 rental + tax to State Park + $20 + tax to All Earth Eco Tours for Lesson ). After the lesson you can head out on the
trails. $3.00 per car park entrance fee.

When: Private Group Lessons are available almost anytime with advance reservations.
Regularly Scheduled Lessons are 10AM and 12 NOON Saturday and Sunday by
Advance Reservation (arrive 1/2 hour early)
Bring a few pairs of socks of different
weights to help adjust the boot fit if necessary. Rentals begin to open up in the early afternoon for walk-ins.

Crede: Thanks for the great cross country skiing lesson on Sunday (16 Jan, 2011). It was a great introduction to my new favorite sport. Now I can visit the trails I hike in the summer in the winter as well. I will recommend All Earth Eco Tours to my friends. Keep up the great work!
